Firmware problems with iPod Touch

I couldn’t get my iPod touch to download the latest firmware 2.0.1 probably because I hacked the 2.0 firmware onto it last month. I found the solution, it’s really easy and I didn’t have to paid the £5.99 fee for the 2.0 firmware.

  1. Connect your iPod touch to your running iTunes. Make sure it shows up in iTunes.
  2. Make sure your iPod is showing its your home screen (it’s not in Recovery Mode.)
  3. Press and hold-down both the Power and Home buttons, on the touch they are the only buttons.
  4. Release the Power button when you see the iPod disconnects and disappears from iTunes. This takes place in about 10 seconds. The iPod’s screen is blank.
  5. Release the Home button when you see the iPod re-connects and re-appears in iTunes. Again this happens in about 10 seconds. The screen is still blank until the iPod reconnects you start the actual restore process.
